To a foreigner on an extended visit to India, succession planning will appear as an art mastered to perfection by most Indians. Why? Look around you. Politicians do it; film stars do it; doctors do it; lawyers do it; and, of course, the Indian businessmen do it. Yet, perhaps, what will baffle him the most is why aren’t we then churning out more world class leaders capable of making the country gallop rather than trot on the path well beaten by the Asian tigers and the Asian dragon.
