The erstwhile Indian National Congress or INC, constituted by A.O. Hume in 1887, was the most important political organization of its time, fortunately bestowed by the presence of great resources in the form of learned leaders. Albeit, its approach towards the Britishers got a fresh thrust towards the turn of the 20th century with the coming of a new breed of leaders of the likes of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel, Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Jawahar Lal Nehru, and most importantly, Mahatama Gandhi. Interestingly, all of these political luminaries had formerly been practitioners of law, which not only strengthened their understanding of convoluted British conspiracies, but also helped them fight back with sound strategies. In the coming years, a strong foundation in law favoured their leadership competencies for nation building.
