Moving from the safely ensconced world of HR to the big bad world of entrepreneurship is often viewed as a big risk. But for some, it is the beginning of a journey on the path of self-discovery.
Trust me when I say that my transition from the top HR job in India to becoming an entrepreneur was rather sudden, although I must confess that this thought did cross my mind from time to time. I had been thinking of getting out of a regular salaried job by the time I turned 50, so that I could have a clear 20 year shot at entrepreneurship while also progressively positioning myself as a gentleman-at-large engaged in some of my favorite activities that I had postponed for several years; but the lure of making a professional difference took me to the one last “employee” assignment in mid-1998 with the second largest Indian group.
