HR needs to be innovative, business oriented and scientific to establish its credibility and relevance for the organizations.

Early this week Ruchika, a student of IMT Ghaziabad, PGDM program came to see me. She was proposing to conduct a study as part of her summer training in one of the financial institutions. Her objective was to benchmark the best HR practices and she thought C-DOT would be a good example to compare and emulate. I sought clarification from her about her intention, parameters she wanted to study and hypothesis she had in mind while doing her study. While we were discussing benchmarking HR, she suddenly paused and shot a salvo.
