IndusInd Bank has received approval from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for the appointment of Sumant Kathpalia as the chief executive. He succeeds Romesh Sobti as MD and CEO for three years.
In a late evening stock exchange filing on February 27, the private sector lender, said that it had received a communication from the cenrtal bank approving the appointment of Kathpalia.
Kathpalia currently heads the consumer banking business and his appointment is effective from 24th March, 2020.
A chartered accountant by qualification, Kathpalia has been associated with IndusInd Bank,since 2008. Prior to this, he spearheaded the consumer banking business of ABN AMRO. In his earlier stints, he has also worked with Citibank and Bank of America.
Kathpalia has decades of experience in banking, spanning areas including consumer banking, credit cards, wealth management, project management, and consumer finance.
