Telangana Soon To implement 10 per cent Economically Weaker Sections Quota

In a recent press conference, Telangana Chief Minister has announced that his government is going to implement a 10 percent reservation quota for the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS). Once the fine points have been planned, the order will be issued.

This decision by a state government follows in the footsteps of an announcement made by the Centre two years ago that it will implement a 10 per cent EWS reservation in government educational institutions and jobs. The State CM's office said that it was high time the plan was implemented in the state too where, under BC category, a 50 per cent reservation for SCs, STs, BCs, and Muslims in government jobs and educational institutions already exists.

It is reported that the CM said that the government felt a strong need to implement this reservation in jobs and education for the EWS. And thus, the decision has been made. He further said that it is in addition to the reservations given to the backward and minority sections of the state who are already enjoying its benefits.
