Google Extends Work From Home; Mulls Over 'Flexible Work Week'

Google has extended work from home to September 2021. The company is in the process of proposing changes that may change how its employees and people at other technology companies will work, reports The New York Times.

Sundar Pichai, Chief Executive of Alphabet (Google’s parent company), in an email to employees said that the company was testing the idea of a “flexible workweek” once it is safe to return to the office. Under the plan, employees will be working for three days a week in the office and from home on other days.

In the email obtained by The New York Times, Pichai wrote, “We are testing a hypothesis that a flexible work model will lead to greater productivity, collaboration, and well-being. No company at our scale has ever created a fully hybrid work force model — though a few are starting to test it — so it will be interesting to try.”
