Japan Firms Fall Short of Meeting Govt Goals on Women in Management: Reuters poll

About one-fifth of Japanese companies do not have female managers and most say women account for less than 10 per cent of management, a Reuters monthly poll found.

The Reuters Corporate Survey found 71 per cent of Japanese firms said women accounted for less than 10 per cent of management, while 17 per cent had no female managers at all.

Asked how much scope there was to increase female managers, 55 per cent said by around 10 per cent, a quarter said by about 20 per cent, one in 10 firms said by around 30 per cent, while 5 per cent saw no room for that.
