Dinesh Kumar Khara is the New SBI Chairman

Dinesh Kumar Khara has been appointed as the Chairman of the State Bank Of India.

 

He succeeds Rajnish Kumar, who completed his three-year term on October 6, 2020.

 

The Finance Ministry said in a notification, “The central government appoints Dinesh Kumar Khara as Chairman of State Bank of India (SBI) for a period of three years with effect from the date of his taking over charge of the post on or after October 7, 2020 or until further orders, whichever is earlier.”

 

Most recently, Khara served as Managing Director (Global Banking & Subsidiaries) of SBI. He was appointed as MD in August 2016 for a three-year term and got a two-year extension in 2019.

 

Khara is an alumnus of the Faculty of Management Studies, Delhi University and holds a Master’s Degree in Commerce from Delhi School of Economics.

 

Meanwhile, the Banks Board Bureau (BBB) has recommended the appointment of Swaminthan Janakiraman and Ashwini Kumar Tewari as Managing Directors of SBI.
