Twitter Aims to have 50% Global Female Workforce by 2025

Twitter plans to have at least half of its global workforce to be constituted by women by 2025.

Presently, women constitute 42.2 per cent of its global workforce, revealed the social media platform's latest "Inclusion & Diversity report".

Twitter also plans to have at least 25 per cent of its overall US workforce be underrepresented minorities by 2025 – nearly 10 per cent of which will belong to the Black community.

Around 00206.3 per cent of Twitter's US workforce were Black by August this year, according to the company.

Dalana Brand, Twitter's Head of Inclusion & Diversity, said in a blog post "These numbers aren't nearly big enough, especially in technical and leadership roles, but they do show that Twitter strives to be a leader of our industry when it comes to representation of Black employees."

"It's one of the first messages we deliver to all new Tweeps on Day One in #FlightSchool, our new hire orientation," she added.

Last week, Swiss engineering and technology company ABB also unveiled a new diversity and inclusion strategy to double the proportion of female managers across the world by 2030.
