74% Indians Want to Continue Remote Working Amid Pandemic: Survey

Most of the employees would like to continue working from home (WFH) even after the lockdown has been lifted as they don't feel safe using public transport to commute to work, according to a recent study.

 

The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM), along with consulting firm Primus Partners, conducted a pan-India survey across eight cities - Kolkata, Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Ahmedabad.

 

The report said, “Our survey shows that 79 per cent of the respondents in these eight cities or metropolitan regions were able to work from home during the pandemic. After the 68-day nationwide lockdown restrictions were lifted, we found that 74 per cent of the respondents favoured WFH.”

 

The findings revealed that only 26 per cent people wanted to report to work amid the pandemic, while 56 per cent preferred partial work from home and 18 per cent said they wanted 100 per cent WFH policy.

 

As per the survey, organisations have also found the WFH arrangement beneficial as they could cut down on infrastructure expenses and direct those towards training, research and development etc.
