TikTok CEO Kevin Mayer resigns

TikTok Chief Executive Officer Kevin Mayer has stepped down just months after taking the helm of the viral short-video phenom.

Mayer had joined TikTok from Disney earlier this year, where he led its streaming business.

Vanessa Pappas, current general manager of TikTok in the US, will be taking over from Mayer in the interim.

The news comes days after TikTok and its Chinese parent, ByteDance sued the Trump administration over an executive order banning transactions in the US with the popular video-sharing app.

”We appreciate that the political dynamics of the last few months have significantly changed what the scope of Kevin’s role would be going forward, and fully respect his decision,” the spokesperson said in a statement.
