Nestle employees to get 3 months full salary

Nestle, the world's largest food and drink processing company, has announced that it would give minimum of three months full salaries to all employees affected by “temporary stoppages” due to fallout of the coronavirus pandemic.

As per the company, the move will cover both part-time and regular employees as well as those working in its retail operations - the Kit Kat Chocolatory and Nespresso boutiques - which have been temporarily shut in some places.

The Swiss multinational which has about 291,000 employees across the globe, would also provide cash advances or loans to those in financial difficulties, and that it had put in place generous sick leave arrangements for staffs who may have contracted the virus.

“The COVID-19 pandemic is a global problem and consequently we are offering help on the ground everywhere,” said Mark Schneider, Chief Executive Officer of Nestle in an official statement. “Please get ready for the storm to hit – because hit it will,” he warned.

Nestle has also partnered with the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) to provide the humanitarian agency with supplies and transportation, and will also donate 10 million Swiss francs, food, medical nutrition products, bottled water and medical nutrition products to those affected by the pandemic.
