Audit firms EY, Deloitte, KPMG Plan To Hire 63,000 Employees In India

Auditing firms— Ernst & Young, Deloitte, KPMG — are reportedly planning to increase their workforce in India with a focus on candidates with digital technology skills.

Ernst & Young to add as many as 14,000 people for global delivery services (GDS) centres across the country this financial year in a bid a to boost its technology and consultancy services delivery network.

E&Y hopes to hire professionals with expertise in advanced analytics and other skills as a part of digitisation. The company currently has strength of 27,000 people on board across its eight GDS centres.

According to Srinivasa Rao, global vice-chair at EY GDS, the increased demand from international clients for digital transformation and innovation focused services from international clients have prompted auditing firms to expand their workforce.

In July, EY India had acquired C Centric, a provider of customer relationship management (CRM) solutions and services that help businesses to rethink, revamp and deliver better customer experience.

Audit multinationals Deloitte and KPMG have also announced plan to recruit 9,000 and 40,000 people, respectively in the country.

As per industry outlook, India has less than 10 per cent of data scientists available globally. According to a joint survey by ed-tech  firm Great Learning and online data science ecosystem Analytics Vidhya, about 50,000 positions—twice the number of professionals available—in data science and machine learning are lying vacant due to a lack of skilled and qualified talent.
